Major Mold Issues

So we got this mat at IKEA because of the cute design. It's one of the longer mats they have available to cover a larger area of the tub. It's made out of rubber instead of some toxic plastic and it sticks well in our tub. It's even machine washable. However, all of that is downplayed by the fact that this thing just breeds mold like crazy! The underside and top portion on ours is peppered with mold and once it appears, there is nothing that can be done to remove it. In fact, it just seems to be growing. The material seems really porous and stains and mold just set in. Even machine washing and bleaching (not recommended in the instructions)has done nothing. You have to be very thorough to dry this mat with every use, otherwise if you leave it down even for a few hours, expect mold issues. At least it was cheap in the store. Also while the raised pattern is ok when you are standing, it's quite uncomfortable to actually sit on.

Cool concept...BUT

Super disappointed when we got this tub mat- is it SUCH a cute idea and matches our boys' jungle bathroom AWESOME....BUT needs to be 5 inches wider AND 5 inches longer to decently cover a standard tub. We have a slightly textured tub and this would NOT stick!!!
If you have a non- textured tub- this would probably suction....it is a thick plastic and does have a strong odor that I suspect would go away if you put outside for a few days. I think it would work for multiple kids in the tub at once but not sure with just one kid...when there was just one in the tub he was ALL over and there is just too much tub area NOT covered by this mat. As cute as this mat is...save you money and find another tub mat.........

This is a really thick, good quality bath mat. I was expecting a flimsy mat that would tear easily but I was happily proved wrong! The mat sticks really well and is a good size for a standard tub. I recommend this mat!
