Toxic Chemical Smell!

I bought this product after reading mostly positive reviews and seeing that it was the best seller on Amazon. Unfortunately, straight out of the package, these rail guards smelled very strongly of toxic chemicals. The chemical smell was worse than I had ever smelled on any other piece of baby gear I have purchased or anything else I have ever bought, for that matter. I tried washing it on the double rinse cycle and air dried it over night, and it still smelled awful. Hoping that multiple washes would remove the toxic chemical smell, I ended up washing the crib guards 7 times, and even threw in baking soda and white vinegar, and nothing removed the chemical smell. I let the product air dry and outgas over and over, and there was no change in the horrendous toxic smell! This product gave me a headache from the toxic smell and multiple attempts to remove it. I surely didn't want anything that smelled that strongly of chemicals around my baby and her chewing on it. If you are like me, and concerned for your baby's safety, you probably don't either. The company says that this product is made of EVA, and it is manufactured in China. They say it has been tested for lead and phthalates, but something is still amiss from their claims of safe construction, based on the persistent toxic chemical smell. I am returning the crib guards and looking into organic crib protectors, and some cute homemade options on Etsy. Hope this review saves you some headache and hassle.

Soft and fits snuggly

I have the Graco Sarah crib which has narrow rails on both sides. I had noticed my 14 month old daughter had white flakes around her mouth in the morning and was shocked to realize it was paint chips from the crib rails! I bought two of these covers and they fit snugly around the rails and blend in nicely. I bought the white covers for my white crib. It is a really soft fleece that feels like good quality, and the ties keep the cover on tightly. Highly recommended before your baby gets teeth.

Small downsides: "natural" is just a color...not the use of organic or cotton components...I would have realized this if I read the description (polyester components), AND the product was oddly smelly (chemical smell)...we got the short crib rail sides and long rail for the front, different shippers, so clearly a manufacturer/material smell. Hoping it goes away with a couple of washings.
